Gas Desorption Measurements
In the field, CGT offers state-of-the-art Gas Content Measurement of coal seams and shales, with techniques for handling conventional core, pressure core, sidewall core, and drill cuttings.
All work is performed according to the client’s specifications and normally involves the use of temperature-controlled gas desorption canisters.
Degas Data Analysis
CGT analyzes degas results with both the standard USBM method and a new sophisticated technique called Spherical Diffusion Analysis (SDA). Comprehensive reports of gas content results and
data curves are presented for each sample.
Laboratory Analyses
Once samples have been brought back to the laboratory, all of the routine and specialized analyses and material handling functions are performed, including:
• Geologic Description (Fractures, Lithology, Photography, etc.);
• Residual Gas Content (by Wet Grinding at constant temperature);
• Proximate, Ultimate, Petrographic Analyses (by other laboratories);
• Equilibrium Moisture Content (per ASTM specifications);
• Apparent Specific Gravity (by Archimedes’ Principle);
• High-Pressure Adsorption Isotherm (with Methane, CO2, Other Gases).
